The legislation addresses the protection of users, adapting the rights and duties of those who use the network and service providers, determining the guidelines for the State actions. The text aims to secure the citizen control and ownership over their own information, in order to guarantee the right to privacy. With the technology advances, it is increasingly normal for personal information to be disclosed without the knowledge of the owner and, often against their will. Through this meeting, we will address controversial points and the relevance of the law to our country, considering the comparative law and the right to oblivion. To enjoy all the benefits provided by these websites it is necessary, however, to be aware of the security risks involved, such as identity theft, information leakage and distribution of malicious code and phishing, among others. This lecture intends to present some of these risks and some of the security issues that have occurred involving social network websites.
