10h40 The Internet Civil Landmark

The Internet Civil Landmark, regulated by Law No. 12.965, of April 23, 2014, establishes rules concerning the use of the Internet in Brazil. The legislation addresses the protection of users, adapting the rights and duties of those who use the network and service providers, determining the guidelines for the State actions. The text aims to secure the citizen control and ownership over their own information, in order to guarantee the right to privacy. With the technology advances, it is increasingly normal for personal information to be disclosed without the knowledge of the owner and, often against their will. Through this meeting, we will address controversial points and the relevance of the law to our country, considering the comparative law and the right to oblivion.
