Information technology crimes comprise a wide range of activities. They may be broken down in two categories: those crimes in which the targets are computers or the internet; and those in which computers or mobile devices are used to commit the crimes but there is not a dependency on a computer network.
The speaker will analyze the most common crimes (internet pedophilia, banking scams, bank account theft, online slander/libel), showing how the end user should behave and how to report the crime.

14h20 Cyber threats, spying and other trends: the role of the Federal Police in strengthening the cyber security  in Brazil

The Federal Police, as a police with national jurisdiction, has the power to investigate the Cybercrimes against the Federal Public Administration and related organizations. This task is therefore within the scope of the Cybercrime Combat Service - b/CGPFAZ/DICOR/DPF. This is about the role of the Federal Police, especially with respect to big incidents in the last years and the new cybercrime legislation that has come into effect recently. Also, an overview of the threats and recent themes will be given.

This talk will show how the credit card market works, and the organizations involved and operating together during a transaction processing. The most common frauds will be presented, as well as the actions taken by companies to minimize losses.
