[08:30 - 09:15] Lecture 1

[08:30 - 09:15] Understanding encryption and how it can be used in practice
Encryption is one of the main security mechanisms that can be used as protection for risks associated with Internet usage. Through encryption it is possible to protect sensitive data, check information veracity, authenticate entities, validate electronic transactions, among other applications. In the other hand, encryption can also be used for malicious practices. This lecture will present practical aspects of cryptography and how it can be used for both good and practice illicit acts, which we must be careful not to be a victim.
